Welcome to Our 1st Grade Program

 

It is our goal that each child will learn, grow, and develop.  First grade is a tremendous year of growth.  Our students learn so much academically but also grow socially and emotionally.  Your child will develop in the areas of  independence and responsibility.

The main academic focus in first grade is language arts and math skills.  Science, social studies, physical education, art and music round out our curriculum.  

Strong parents and community support enhances the quality of education at Union Ridge.  We hope you will visit the school often.  Please come meet us, talk to us, join the PTA, and volunteer.  We know that your involvement, combined with the efforts of our talented faculty, will make this school year a rich and rewarding year for your child.

Where Confidence Takes Flight

First grade is when many of the foundational skills introduced in kindergarten truly come together. As students become stronger readers, writers, and mathematicians, they begin to see themselves as capable learners. We celebrate growth every step of the way while encouraging students to become active participants in their own learning.
