And the Husky of the Year Award Goes to...

The Husky of the Year Assembly is a ceremony celebrating the students who go above and beyond in displaying the Husky traits: teamwork, determination, loyalty, strength, and hard work. Nine students, one from each grade level, are chosen for this honor. In addition to celebrating these students, we also celebrate all students who received a Husky bracelet throughout the year and past winners of the Husky of the Year Award, including Adam Witusik, who just finished his freshman year at Ridgewood. Adam spoke about how all students can represent the Husky Traits, and how honored he was to receive the award last year.

This year, to inspire our students, we featured three outstanding alumni. Kamila Czachorowksi, who earned the Gold Congressional Medal, attended the Princeton Summer Journalism Program, received the Ridgewood Foundation Scholarship, and will be attending Harvard in the fall, spoke about the theme "Huskies are Heroes," and related it to her achievements.  Vinny Scaletta, who was a three time all-conference athlete, won 4th in all-state his Junior Year, was the state champion in wrestling his senior year, and will be attending college with nearly a full-ride for wrestling, spoke to the students about using hard work and dedication to accomplish your goals. Finally, Fotini Anastopolous, a member of the IHSA all-academic team, recipient of the Silver Congressional Medal, Class President, and will be attending Harvard in the fall, related her high school accomplishments to the Husky Traits. Each speaker expressed gratitude and fondness about their time at Union Ridge.
