On Friday, February 20, author Gina Bellisario visited URS writers who are part of this year’s Young Author Competition. Six stories from these grade levels are chosen to be part of the author workshop (where they meet an author) and are part of the writing competition. The goal of Young Authors is to encourage and promote writing.
Gina Bellisario, this year’s author, is from Park Ridge and has written a variety of books. Her character in the Ellie Ultra series face problems such as fitting in. Gina also writes books about community helpers like police and firemen, as well as healthy habits focusing on safety and health.
The students who attended the workshop had a wonderful time learning more about Gina’s writing process and were able to share their stories with her.
