Fall is in the air and Kindergarten was filled with Fall Fever when we went on our annual field trip to the Pumpkin Farm! This year we went to Goebbert's Pumpkin Farm in South Barrington. All 53 students, their teachers, and dozens of parents piled onto school buses on a beautifully sunny fall day.
While there we learned a little bit about the lifecycle of the pumpkin. We went on a haunted wagon ride (fog and skeletons and witches...oh my!). "I really loved the creepy hayride," said one student. We watched a pumpkin eating dinosaur, visited lots of animals, and even wandered through a corn maze. "I got to feed the giraffes some carrots!" said another student. The day ended with every student picking out a small pumpkin, indian corn, and gourd to take home as a momento along with some memorable class photos. "It is trips like this I remember most from being a kid," said one parent who came with us. "I am glad my son gets to have these memories too."
Teachers even got to bring back a big pumpkin for the classroom. That pumpkin will be the source of many fall and Halloween activities over the coming school week as we prepare for the holiday. The fun continues!
