On Wednesday September 21, 2016, Ms. Haller’s 6th grade summer reading group visited Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House, on the University of Chicago Campus. After reading The Wright Three by Blue Balliett over the summer, we were led on a private tour of the house, the setting of our novel. The students investigated the Robie House from top to bottom and learn about Wright and his innovative architectural design, using pentominoes to uncover the geometric shapes and forms that make up Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie style masterpiece. At the end of our tour, the students got to use 3-D pentominoes to design their own floor plans for their own Prairie style home.
