Our young Botanists in Room 155 have once again put on their lab coats and are creating experiments, making observations and collecting data. The Next Generation Science performance expectations in second grade help students formulate answers to questions such as: What do plants need to grow?
Students are expected to develop an understanding of what plants need to grow and how plants depend on animals for seed dispersal and pollination. They were able to complete these investigations by dissecting seeds, maintaining their own mini garden plot with variables and making daily observations as they collect/compare data.
These young botanists will not only have the best gardens in Harwood Heights but are now on a mission in making our neighborhood green!!
