The combined efforts of Mr. Stare in the CLC and Mrs. Price in 5th grade Social Studies, the students were given the task of researching two explorers. This research will be used to work with a partner to compare and contrast the explorer's lives and explorations. Research was conducted during Library time for approximately 6 weeks and included the creation of a bibliography. Then, in Social Studies class, the students are using the research to create projects of their choice to present their explorers. Student partnerships will be comparing and contrasting each explorer's birth, death and early life, their major exploration and the importance of the exploration, as well as some fun and interesting information they learned about the explorer.
