On a cold and snowy morning, Chicago's past came to life for eleven Union Ridge 6th graders! Braving the weather, the 6th grade Research and Critical Thinking exploratory visited the Chicago History Museum in February. Prior to our visit, the students spent their exploratory researching people and historical events that impacted Chicago between the years of 1850 and 1950. It was a fantastic experience for all who attended! The students were able to examine primary sources related to their research, experience Chicago's past by viewing a film titled The Great Chicago Adventure, and expand their knowledge of the different people and events they previously studied by exploring a variety of exhibits. One student stated, "It was interesting and fun to look at all of the events we researched." Another student expressed that she enjoyed learning about the origin of certain events, like the Chicago Fire.
