On Friday, February 19, Union Ridge had the pleasure of hosting illustrator Terri Murphy for our Young Author Workshop. Students in grades 1-6 who are interested in writing submitted stories to Union Ridge’s Young Author committee. The committee members read the stories and selected six students per grade level to partake in this workshop. This year’s theme is, “Bringing stories to life.” Illustrator Terri Murphy not only gave feedback to our young authors, but also showed students how an illustrator is responsible for building the world of the story through art. Her presentation included a demonstration on how her drawings become a fully inked illustration. All the students enjoyed meeting Ms. Murphy, sharing a snapshot of their writing, and learning about the magic and importance of illustrations!
